Professor Dr. Mohammed Abood Taher

 

 

Professor Dr. Mohammed Abood Taher was born in 1950. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Administration from University of Basra in 1975, followed by a Master's and then a Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom in 1984. He has held the title of Professor since 2004.
Dr. Mohammed Abood held several administrative positions at the University of Basra, including Head of the Business Administration Department, Head of the Information Systems Department, Head of the Statistics Department, and Assistant Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, among others. Later, he served as Dean of Shatt Al-Arab University College from 2008 to 2012, in addition to heading the Business Administration Department later on, and is currently Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at Shatt Al-Arab University.
Professor Dr. Mohammed Abood has participated in numerous academic committees and received numerous letters of thanks and appreciation from the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and other institutions in recognition of his ongoing contributions and efforts. He has supervised many Master’s and Ph.D. theses and participated in committees for graduate students' theses defense.

 

Duties of the College Dean:
The College Dean exercises the following academic authorities:
1.Implementing the university council's decisions regarding the college.
2.Managing the college academically, administratively, educationally, culturally, and financially.
3.Monitoring the progress of undergraduate and postgraduate studies within the college.
4.Chairing the college council and its academic bodies, and submitting their minutes to the university president for approval.
5.Preparing quarterly and annual scientific reports on the college’s activities.
6.Approving the recommendations of department and division councils.
7.Overseeing academic and administrative activities of scientific departments and the consulting office.
8.Recommending the appointment of department heads and assistant deans.
9.Enforcing all instructions and regulations related to organizing academic and educational affairs, as well as decisions issued by the college council.
10.Calling the college council for special sessions when necessary.
11.Forming major committees in the college and issuing relevant administrative orders.
12.Establishing examination committees for the college and committees for exam question preparation.
13.Evaluating the annual performance of the faculty members in consultation with the department or scientific division head.
14.Representing the college in meetings and seminars.
